Milan's Castle

We had a very nice visit to Milan's Castle...Joe has already written about the history in a separate post.  One of the highlights was Michelangelo's final sculpture...the Rondanini Pieta.  He worked on it in the 1550s until the last days of his life in 1564.  He sculpted the figure of Jesus to look as if he were supporting a grieving Mary with his back - to symbolize how he was comforting her in her time of loss.

The castle has been converted into numerous museums and is well worth visiting...

Another beautiful, 66 degree day in Milan...next stop Sicilia !! Ciao for now !
