A Magical Night With Puccini

Giacomo Puccini was born in Lucca in 1858 and is considered the most famous Italian opera composer, writing a total of 12...Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Turandot, and La Boheme to name just a few.  In Lucca, concerts are given every evening honoring Puccini...every evening !  We were fortunate enough to attend one that included several of his works plus several popular Napoletana tunes...

The venue was the beautiful Church of San Giovanni...

what acoustics !!













Torna a Surriento...Return to Sorrento...was sung by an amazing tenor to start the show.  After drying our eyes, we were treated to several selections from Puccini's operas sung by the tenor and a wonderful soprano.

these two performers and the pianist were just fantastic...









It was a memorable, emotional evening...especially when the encore of "O Sole Mio" was sung !!
