We arrived in Palermo on Friday afternoon, picked up our rental car (a Lancia Ypsilon...), and drove to our apartment for the week in Castellammare del Golfo. It's a beautiful city with a lovely little harbor.

Several years ago on a trip here, we met a couple who were to become our new friends in Sicily... Jackie and Nino. We had dinner with them on Saturday evening at a great restaurant right in the harbor called La Cambusa. I had fagottini de pesce...a pasta similar to ravioli stuffed with shrimp, and Joe had busiate pasta with mussels, clams, and shrimp. Both were delicious, as were Jackie's and Nino's dishes.

It was a lovely, warm evening with good food, good wine, and good friends...

Jackie and Nino are moving back to England in September - where they lived for many years (Jackie is British), so our next trip may just have to be to Manchester !
